School And Colleges Reopening Date Notification: State Education Minister

BENGALURU: Private schools are upset over the Karnataka government for not allowing them to have students on campus for doubt-clarification sessions.Karnataka schools and colleges including Bangalore schools would remain closed till October 15. The state government has decided to release a new notification on reopening of schools soon.

The Karnataka government today informed the parents of the school students that the state was not in a hurry to reopen schools and also asked them not to panic regarding the same. The government of India has issued Unlock 5 guidelines on Wednesday. As per the new guidelines, the Karnataka government has decided schools and colleges in the state to remain closed till October 15, 2020.

This decision has been taken keeping into consideration the rising cases of the virus in the state. The government would soon release a new notification on reopening schools and colleges, announced Commissioner, Department of Public Instruction, Bengaluru.

In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, schools and colleges across the country have been closed since March. However, several states and UTs reopened the educational institutions in a phased manner from September 21, after the Centre issued guidelines for ‘Unlock 4’ and said that chools can call 50 per cent of the teachers taking classes for 10th, 11th and 12th classes at a time in areas outside the Covid-19 containment zones.
State Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said, “We have not taken any decision regarding reopening on schools in the state yet. The government does not have any such plans to reopen schools at present.”
Unlock 5 guidelines issued the Ministry of Home Affairs, also states that the decision on re-opening of schools and coaching institutes after October 15 in a graded manner should be taken by states in consultation with the respective schools/institution management, based on their assessment of the situation.
